CrossFit

CrossFit is:

…is constantly varied, because life, sport and combat are constantly varied, and unpredictable. A variety in training  has been clinically proven to elicit the greatest and most noticeable results.

…utilizes functional movements because its goal is to deliver functional fitness and not aesthetics (though aesthetics are a fortunate byproduct).

…workouts are performed at high intensity because intensity plays a large role in determining the quality of training stimulus and erases the line between “cardio,” and strength training–a line that life/sport/nature simply do not recognize.

…is for everyone because the programming is scalable through weight and intensity.  As humans, we all have the same functional needs (to elevate, transport and control our own bodies, as well as objects,) and the variance is in the degree at which these functional needs are performed.  Grandma needs to take care of herself to continue independent living or accept dependency; the athlete needs to be faster and stronger than his opponent or accept defeat; the soldier and emergency response person, need to be ready for unknown circumstances, or risk serious injury.

CrossFit is not:

…about aesthetics.  While aesthetics are a fortunate byproduct of the CrossFit philosophy,  they are not the primary focus.    If you are interested in building real fitness, which is  more effective and healthier than any fad diet or pills,  the choice is CrossFit.
